How to use Dada Mail > Customize Email Messages

Here's where you change, if so desired, what should be included in the Subscription Confirmation Email, the Subscription Successful Email, and Unsubscription messages. The default messages are probably all you need.

Test it by subscribing your own email address (not the one used as List Owner or List Admin).

Mailing List Message (Text Version)
What do you want to have always included in out-going messages? Every email should include the name of the list and a link for easy unsubscribing. It should at least have the following; this is what it would look like in the plain Text Version:

TO UNSUBSCRIBE:

The bottom of the screen has a table of these special tags -- what you see in the brackets in the sample above -- and others that you can use in the messages.

  • [message_body] indicates where the content of the email message will show up, in relation to everything else in the posted email. You can put a standard message above it. For example, in the case where several authorized senders (i.e., "moderators") post messages, only the List Owner will receive replies, so you might want to add this at the top:

    Do not reply to this message, for it will not reach the author of the message.
    Send responses directly to the person wrote it.

  • This is the "[list_name]" mailing list automatically inserts the full List Name.
      
  • [program_url]/list/[list] inserts a clickable link to the webpage where people can unsubscribe and resubscribe, such as when they are changing addresses.
      
  • [list_unsubscribe_link][email] inserts a clickable link that allows the subscriber to immediately, in one easy step, remove their address from your list. This must always be included on public lists or else you are considered a spammer!
      
  • [physical_address] is the name and address of your organization, according to what you've written for it in the Change List Information screen.

The same information as provided in the plain Text Version should be coded in HTML format here.

However, you can also add much more! Design a header, footer, even a sidebar menu that takes recipients to your website. Use your web design editor to create it, then paste the source code here.

Experiment with how it looks by first testing it before using it. How? After saving it on this screen, go to the "Send a List Message" screen, type in a test message, and click the button "Sent as Test Message to List Owner".
